It’s not unrealistic to imagine Molly Taylor being born with a set of car keys in her tiny hands. She was raised in a motorsport family, and her mother is four-time Australian Rally Champion co-driver Coral Taylor, so it was perhaps inevitable Molly would develop an interest in rallying. While still at school, she was offered a car to compete in some local motorkhanas. She finished ninth outright and first in class – and a high-octane career was born.
Highlights of her career include being a selected in the Pirelli Star Driver World Rally Championship program, the first female driver to achieve a podium position in the Junior World Rally Championship, finishing third in the illustrious Rally Finland. In 2015 she awarded the Peter Brock Medal, one of the most prestigious awards in Australian motorsports and the following year became the first female (and at the time, youngest ever) driver to win the Australian Rally Championship.
In 2020, Molly won a legion of new fans through her appearance on Seven Network’s SAS Australia, where her grit made her a viewer favourite.
In 2021 Molly joined the Extreme E series, where she was crowned winner in the Championship’s first season. She also began her venture into off-road racing competing in the 2022 and 2023 Dakar rallies.
